Pro Life Mission Statement

In gratitude to God, the author of life, we combine our efforts to protect all of His created life made in His image and likeness from conception to natural death.

We pledge to further the joyful culture of life by our positive words and example. We will educate others on the beauty of life, the horror of abortion and the shining happiness that a chaste and virtuous life will bring. In this, our mission, we humbly ask the Holy Spirit’s inspiration and guidance, and the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Gianna Molla.

St. Gianna Molla Ministry for Life is currently sponsoring a Pro-Life essay, poetry, and poster contest open to all students, in grades 2-12, of Sts. Cyril and Methodius parish.

St. Gianna Molla Ministry for Life has available for purchase a Rosary for Life CD, led by Father Gary Janak, and pro-life T-shirts in various colors and sizes that feature unique pro-life themes. The CD's are $15 and the T-shirts are $10, with both items available at the rectory office. Proceeds benefit the Ministry for Life cause.

“Prayer is the most powerful weapon that a human can possess.”

Why did a class of high school seniors choose to travel to Houston to pray in front of an abortion clinic? The answer is social justice.

The St. Paul High School Seniors class is taking a course on social justice. The first principle of social justice is life, because, as Fr. Tommy Chen stated, “Without life, nothing else matters”. The students had an assignment – write a proposal for a class project. One of the students did research on 40 Days for Life*, and proposed that the class pray in front of an abortion clinic as a service project. The entire class voted to do this. Mr. Whitworth, the principal, thought it was a good idea.

An invitation was also extended to all parishioners to join with the seniors in putting social justice to action. Including the seniors, 36 parishioners from Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church traveled to Houston to join in solidarity with others to pray for an end to abortion. They prayed for the babies, the mothers, the fathers, and the workers in the facility: that God may change their hearts and end abortion. As this was one of the largest Abortion facilities in Houston, with abortions occurring as they prayed, they stood by as prayerful witnesses (as did the Blessed Mother and St. John at the foot of the cross) to unite with the suffering of those babies in the clinic.

Just during that rainy morning of October 29, six mothers chose to let their babies continue to live and one nurse quit!

“What we did was easy.” said Fr. Tommy. “We started with mass at 7am (dedicated to St. Joseph who was the protector of the unborn Christ Child), then traveled by bus to Houston. We prayed together all 20 mysteries of the rosary and sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We allowed the power of prayer and just the power of witness, do its job.” As one Senior stated, “Prayer is the most powerful weapon that a human can possess.”

These are some of the wrap up comments by the St. Paul Seniors:

“I never felt so close to God.”

“I felt that our prayers were so powerful and they had an impact on the people that walked into and out of the abortion clinic.”

“I felt that our prayers helped those 6 babies.”

“I don’t think they (The people having the abortions) all realize what they are doing.”

“The whole experience deeply impacted us all.”

“I would definitely do it again.”

*The 40 Days for Life is a national campaign whose mission is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion in America. This was the largest 40 Days for Life campaign in history, involving 212 cities across 45 states, Canada, and Denmark!
